Stand-Up Paddleboarding, or SUP as it's known to aficionados, is the latest board sport craze to sweep the nation. You can do it in Liverpool's docks whatever the weather. You don't even need waves. Radical, dude!
We use a watersports centre right in the heart of Liverpool, handy for the docks and staffed by instructors who'll teach you everything you need to know about the sport. SUPs are like huge surfboards, with plenty of volume so they'll float with almost any load on top. To ride one, you just stand on it and use the paddle on alternating sides, like you would with a canoe.
You don't need to bring much, just swim gear and a towel. Your stag party will be kitted out with everything else they need to get up and riding: board, paddle, flotation aids and protective gear.
Paddleboarding is a totally unique way to see Liverpool. It's slow and steady, but it'll give you a good workout for the upper body and core. Sightseers get to tick the city off their list of things to do, hungover chaps can slowly recover in the fresh air, and fitness freaks will feel they've done something to work off all the beer. Perfect!
