Do you know the difference between a canoe and a kayak? You'll find out when you jump in the boats at this awesome watersports centre near Derby! Your qualified British Canoe Union (BCU) instructors will soon have the chaps paddling like professional outdoorsmen, as they conquer the basic strokes on the River Derwent.
Novices are welcome at this watersports centre, which caters to all kinds of groups including stag parties. And if you've had some time in the water before, the instructors will help you hone your paddling technique to get more from your canoe.
Your stag party will learn to paddle in a straight line, complete turns and perform more complex manoeuvres. You'll be using open canoes, and following your instructor's lead on a trip downstream. As you perfect your turning, sideways paddling and ruddering, the guides will introduce some games to get the competitive juices flowing!
Get the fellers out of bed, and leave the pubs and bars of Derby behind for a couple of hours as you mess around on the river. There's nothing like fresh air and good clean fun to get the boys over a big night in Friar Gate and Sadler Gate! Oh, and in case you were interested: there's no difference between a canoe and a kayak. If you're using a double-bladed paddle, you're kayaking. If it's a single-blade paddle, you're canoeing.
