Wednesday Wisdom What To Do Now Football Season Is Over

As the final day of the Premier League season drew to a close on Sunday, it dawned on us that there would be no more domestic top-flight action for another 87 days. 87 days! That's just under three months.

Now, we know that the football season isn't officially over, with the Europa League Final taking place tonight, the FA Cup Final this weekend and the Champions League Final the following weekend; but the regular action is over for now.

What is a man expected to do with his Saturday's now? Whether it's playing or watching, our lives are consumed by football at the weekends and the summer months can be a hardship, especially as there is no World Cup or European Championship to enjoy.

We understand the pain at Stag Weekends, which is why we have come up with some ideas to keep you occupied over the summer.

FIND A NEW SPORT

It might sound like sacrilege, but it isn't a bad idea to find another sport over the summer months - football will still be there come August!

Many amateur footballers turn to cricket over the summer months to get their sporting fix. You don't even need to be that good, and there is a great social element to local cricket. Expect many beers to be consumed after a day's play! If you fancy something a bit more relaxing, golf is also a great option. Playing in the rain is never appealing, but dusting off the clubs at the back of the shed for a few summer rounds is a great way to spend a morning, afternoon or evening.

Cricket is also a top choice if you fancy spectating some sport over the summer; T20 games in particular are popular due to the shorter format. There'll be plenty of other sport to watch on our TV screens as well, with a Lions tour to New Zealand imminent, as well as Wimbledon on the horizon.

ENTERTAIN THE MRS

If you still have a Mrs - after abandoning them throughout the football season - you have no doubt got some making up to do over the summer.

No doubt you have been nagged at for not doing enough things together, so it's time to do some grovelling. You might have to decorate that bedroom finally, or spend a weekend with the in-laws just to keep the peace.

It could even be a good idea to take the Mrs away on holiday over the summer, so if you haven't booked something already, start searching now!

GET AWAY WITH THE LADS

If that doesn't sound like something that you would be interested in, or you don't have a Mrs, then why not book an adventure away with all the lads?

You don't need the excuse of a stag weekend to still book a weekend away with the boys. Over the summer it will be party season in a number of European destinations such as Ibiza and Magaluf.

Nothing raises the spirits like a lads' holiday does. You will even be able to get your football fix out there with some beach football! Start looking now and decide where it is you and your mates will be heading this summer – it's not too late!

CLING ON

If the thought of being without your beloved football is just too much to handle, then there are still a few ways you can cling on.

You can constantly refresh the BBC Sport website as you search for the latest transfer news over the summer. Or you can buy your club's season review and watch the highlights back from last season. If you watch it enough times, that should keep you sorted until August!

Whether it's going on a weekend bender, or having a more relaxed affair, Off Limits Stag Weekends knows how to plan a weekend away for you and the lads!
