How To Ace Fancy Dress for a Stag Do Party?

With Halloween just around the corner, no doubt many of you will be going to Halloween parties over the weekend. Of course, that means you will be expected to come in fancy dress!

I know that a lot of lads hate the idea of fancy dress, but it's time to embrace it. More and more stag parties are having some kind of fancy dress theme, so this seems like the perfect time to offer some advice on how to smash fancy dress. Killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Here are a few dos and don'ts?¦

Do something with the lads

One of the concerns when it comes to fancy dress is having to decide what to go as. Will I look stupid? Am I going to stick out like a sore thumb? What if no-one has come in fancy dress? These are just a few of the questions that can cross your mind.

Well, the best way to eliminate this fear is by doing a group fancy dress with the lads! This way you know you're not the only one who is going to be a look a bit daft and there are some great ideas! The possibilities are pretty much endless; ranging from the likes of storm troopers to pimps.

It's a great way to build excitement around a Halloween party or a stag weekend. Get all the lads together in a WhatsApp group and send each other your fancy dress ideas! One things for certain, you'll get plenty of attention if you nail it!

Do something topical

If the lads aren't up for a group fancy dress then you've got to come up with something on your own. No problem'I've got just the trick! The key to doing a good solo fancy dress is making it something topical so that everyone knows what you are.

If it's Halloween you're dressing up for then why not go for something like a vampire or a zombie? You can't go wrong with this. Pretty straight forward outfits, a couple of accessories and some fake blood'sorted! No-one will be able to say that you haven't dressed for the occasion!

If individual fancy dress is the plan for a stag weekend then topical is absolutely the way forward. If you're all doing something different, it's going to be competitive; so make sure you get a laugh from all of the boys. I'd say go for someone like Donald Trump or Boris Johnson?

Don't offend anyone

Sometimes there's a fine line between making someone laugh and offending them. It's advisable to not cross that line, whether it be at a Halloween party or a stag weekend. If there are people there that you don't know that well, you never know what could upset them!

You might have a little more leeway with your mates on a stag weekend, but the father of the bride may not have the same sense of humour. Best not to upset him for the sake of the groom. So, yeah, maybe leave the terrorist costume at home.

Don't do it half hearted

Like I said earlier, fancy dress isn't always man's best friend. But if you've been roped into going to a Halloween party by the Mrs or it's fancy dress on the stag weekend, make sure you do it properly.

You might think that you'll look a tit in your fancy dress outfit, but trust me; you'll look even more ridiculous if you only do it half-heartedly! The key to this is the accessories, if you're going to be Andy Murray for example, make sure you bring a tennis racket!
